News of March 18, 2011
Important news from SMA Engines - How customer service will be maintained for all owners of Cessna 182 converted to their SMA305 aero diesel engine.
After the certification of the SR305-230E obtained in February, SMA announced on March 18 that the SR305-230-1 engine version, which today equips 47 Cessna 182s in the world, will no more be supplied for any future conversions of 182s. Customer service, however, will continue for this existing 182SMA fleet: Maintenance, replacement under warranty of parts, and other customer support will remain available. Replacement of engines already installed in converted planes remains available as long as it doesn’t constitute a new sale of a conversion kit.
The new SMA305-230E engine recently certified is currently under the industrialization process and will be available as an OEM to airplane manufacturers beginning of 2012.
SMA Engines is pursuing talks with several major aircraft manufacturers, and expect concluding this year one or more OEM supplier agreement. The first of such agreement will trigger the decision to undertake manufacturing of the 230E in significant volumes, for which production plans are ready.
